Magic or A Process?
I over heard a conversation the over day. It went somewhat like this,
Customer: Hello, is this ACME?
Company: Yes, this is ACME, how may I be of assistance?
Customer: I have problems A, B, C, D and E and was wondering if you are the right person to speak to as I really need some help?
Company: Erh… I will need to find out about that. Can I have your name and phone number so that someone can get back you. Or if you prefer we could … (voice trailing off)
Me (thinking quietly): Of course we can. I'm a magician. What will you like me to pull out of the hat for you?
This customer was asking for the immediate solutions to a problem they had allowed to get out of hand and directed towards to person who was not qualifed to solve it.
Most problems are the results of the choices people make and a process they have refused to follow - either out of ignorance or plain laziness.
Today you have a choice. If you have an issue that needs to be solved
- Reengineer the problem. Find out what caused the issue and work backwards. Most times the root cause is because YOU got in the way
- If you still need reassurance that it was your ghost and not you that caused the issue find a qualified person, who will invariably tell you the same thing.
You are more powerful that you actually realise. Once you know this - you will approach problem solving differently - more like trying to work a process through as opposed to expecting entertainment from magicains with your problem taking centre stage.
Think about it.
